Job Redesign Grant

Employers who wish to relook at their workplaces to accommodate an ageing workforce can tap on WorkPro’s Job Redesign Grant by Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). This Grant provides funding support to create physically easier, safer and smarter jobs for older workers aged 50 years and above.

Companies can apply for funding of up to $300,000 to redesign jobs or purchase equipment for older workers in order to improve the workplace environment and work processes.

What components may be funded?

  1. Equipment to support hiring and retention of mature workers and back-to-work locals.
  2. Costs for job redesign/productivity-related programmes and consultancy services.
  3. Costs involved in procuring and implementing policies and systems to support mature workers or back-towork locals.
  4. Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) course fees, and course fees and absentee payroll for non-WSQ courses relevant to the job redesign project, capped at $1,000 per newly hired back-to-work local or mature workers.*
  5. Recruitment advertising cost, capped at $10,000 per company.*

1. JR Projects targeted at Back-To-Work Locals

For job redesign projects targeted at mature workers:

  • 60% of the workers benefitted must be newly hired back-to-work locals
  • Maximum claimable amount per project = (No. of newly-hired workers aged 40 and above who benefitted from the project + Number of existing workers aged 55 and above who will be retained in employment and benefitted from the project) X $3,000

OR

  • 80% of declared project cost, whichever is lower.

2. JR Projects targeted at Mature Workers

  • Maximum claimable amount per project = (Number of local workers who benefitted from the project) X $3,000

OR

  • 80% of declared project cost, whichever is lower.

What do employers need to bear in mind?

  1. JR Grant is subjected to a sub-cap of $150,000 for Mature Worker and Back-To-Work Locals respectively
  2. Employers can implement more than 1 project, up to the cap mentioned above

How is the money disbursed?

  1. 1st tranche of 20% approved project grant upon acceptance of LOO
  2. 2nd tranche of 80% of approved project grant upon completion of JR project

CDG – WorkPro Job Redesign Rider (optional)

Between 1 Jul 2016 to 30 Jun 2019, companies supported under the Capability Development Grant (CDG) may apply for the WorkPro – Job Redesign Rider (“JR Rider”) upon CDG project completion.

To be eligible, SMEs need to show that the project has led to a positive impact on older workers (subject to applicable conditions being met).

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Making jobs physically easier, safer and smarter through improvements to the workplace environment / work processes
  • Placement and retention of older workers
  • Improved productivity, enhanced job scope, wage increment etc.
  • The JR Rider can be used to increase the level of funding support to a maximum of 80% of the qualifying project cost, or up to $20,000 payable per older worker who have benefited (whichever is lower), subject to the applicable caps to the JR Rider scheme.
